[Dell] U2415 for $292.88 after tax with ebates/10%OFFMONITOR coupon(lowest its been?)

Enter 10%OFFMONITOR at check out and use ebates for another 10% off dell purchases. Lowest it's been from a quick RFD search though someone correct me if i'm wrong. Total with both deductions should be: $292.88 after tax

Please remember to CAREFULLY click through ebates/check your ebates click # to make sure it registers and you get your cashback If anyone has suggestions on how to make sure it registers feel free to add your comments. I've had some issues, but maybe that's because i have adblock on?

Also, thinking of pulling the trigger myself to use this as a work monitor/movies but if people have better suggestions, i'd love to hear them given this monitor is "old". As a quick FYI, called a rep earlier and apparently you can't return it without a restocking cost so if you're on the fence just buy it from amazon perhaps.

Thought I would mention that while this monitor has high color accuracy as a selling point, it is NOT a wide gamut screen

Agreed... the S2718 and the U2415 are not really comparable due the colour gamuts they support.

For hobbyist/pro image editing I'd take the U2415 over the S2718 but I believe I'm capable of dealing with the issues related to using a wide gamut monitor. IMHO, people with no experience with colour gamuts, no investment in a hardware calibrator, no investment in software to support wide gamuts, would be better served by the S2718.

For spreadsheet work I'd take the size and resolution of the S2718 over the U2415.

I think that for work, if all you are doing is spreadsheets, email, and surfing, the U2415 is not the best solution. But the S2718 may not be that good either considering its' glossy screen. I'd rather have a matte screen in an office environment.

This might be a better work monitor....

edit... just caught the "movies" in the OP's post. For movies the S2718 may be the better choice due its' native resolution and glossy screen as long as you control reflections (i.e. keep the lights low and don't wear a white shirt). I have a glossy monitor side by side with a couple of matte screen monitors, all are calibrated to a standard and are at the same brightness level, and I find viewing images and videos more enjoyable on the glossy screen model.

thanks for the detailed post! In your opinion how much does 16:10 matter for work in spreadsheets/small design work (not photoshop focussed more just reviewing designs in sketch/figma)? And you're right on point for matte i would prefer it for work.... i guess i could always rely on my macbook retina for movies and use the monitor for work?

For movies and spreadsheet work I'd prefer a 27" 16:9 resolution (2560x1440) over a 23.9" 16:10 1920x1200. For movies less black bar at top and bottom and an overall larger more immersive screen and for spreadsheets that extra handful of columns I can read without having to lean closer is appreciated.

Is this really the best price? I can't do a search back very far in the forums.

Anyway, I have been looking through the Amazon.com reviews for both the 2415 and that 27-inch BenQ monitor mentioned here.

There are a number of scary reviews for the 27-inch BenQ. Numerous reports of dead pixels (often in rows), and massive problems with DVI connections (which I am using right now).

The Dell, by contrast, has far fewer such reports. I feel as if the 2415 will be a more solid purchase that is less likely to fail, even though it is smaller than the BenQ.

what are people's opinion of the newly released U2419HC? Your text to link here...

How does it compare to the 2415 given it's a 16:9, but with 1440p? Couldn't find any reviews on how it compares to the 2415 on google sadly as it seems to be released in late oct 2018...

It is too new to have an opinion. No one has seen it yet. At least any of my go to review sites.

It has USB-C connectivity which may appeal to some. I can't imagine that it will have a significantly better / more accurate colour gamut than the previous generation Ultrasharp U24xxaa model.

This?? .... $219.99 TODAY only

1920x1080
IPS Panel (for colours/gamma that does not shift as you move off centre)
Premium Panel Exchange warranty
Height Adjustable
Standard sRGB gamut (so no issues with overly vivid colours from a wide gamut panel using software that is not gamut aware)

https://www.dell.com/en-ca/work/shop/de ... ccessories

Matte or Glossy? I have not seen this particular model but these next web sites says it is matte as do others.

Well, looks like the issue of u2415 vs BenQ GW2765HT has been decided for me, since the BenQ no longer appears to be on sale at Amazon.ca

So I may just choose the u2415 for $287.

EDIT: QC issues? I haven't heard about many QC issues for the u2415...
