Dell OptiPlex 9020
Processor: Intel Core i7 Quad (i7-4770) 3.40 GHz
Memory: 8 GB
Hard Drive: 320 GB
OS: 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 8570

$330. Very nice. Toss in an SSD and this will be perfect for everyday use. (CPU is only around 10% slower then the i7-7700 in synthetic benchmarks). Great for plex/encoding.

Also:
Dell Precision T3610
Operating System 64-bit Windows 8 Professional
Processor 1x Intel Xeon 6 Core (E5-1650 v2) 3.50 GHz
Memory 16 GB (4x 4GB)
Hard Drive 256 GB (1x 256 GB)
Optical Drive DVD-RW
Video Nvidia Quadro K4000 (3 GB)

for $599 seems good for a cheap workstation.

get the one they say 250gb of hard drive, they're 250GB SSD, I got one and it's perfect, no need to spend $100 for SSD anymore

Units that are listed as 128Gb or 256Gb will be SSD. A unit listed as 250Gb will be SATA.

Why is the second station so much more expensive?

6 core (12 thread) CPU ivy bridge CPU with 12MB cache, 2x more ram (possibly ECC?), higher end video card (K4000)

Xeon six core processor and the Nvidia Quadro video card. Those are the two big ticket upgrades. Great for AutoCAD workstation or similar.

Also, more RAM and SSD instead of a spinning HDD.

Anyone have a recommendation from the refurb site for a laptop that would be good for video-editing?

mine arrived yesterday from the last sale and it was pretty good shape minus the dent on the box. Did windows 7 update of 1.5gb and its appears to be working fine. Comes with brand new keyboard, mouse and power adapter
😃
