Game is made by Atlus and in general, Atlus published games are rare due to short supply policies, i.e. they don't produce a lot of copies.
The game is tough in terms of punishing you for dying and forcing you to use tactics such as knowing when to attack and defend, range, physical, or magic. If you get hit cleanly 2-3 times by any enemy, you are dead. There are enemies that are so strong, they can literally KILL you through your guard.
Most people give up without beating the so-called tutorial that is world 1-1. I've played it and "almost" given up. But I stuck with it and the gameplay after is very addicting. I warn you, this game is NOT for everyone. If you're used to being impatient and just like to run and gun and rambo your way through things. This game is not for you. If you like to think, plan, and observe and exploit enemy movement and attack patterns, then this game is for you.
I've paid full price for this game and already I've play 30hours in 3 days and I'm still not close to being done. And I'm still not bored.
Edit: Correction, game published by Atlus, not developed by them.

Demon's Souls (NON-SPOILER plz)
This is for people who don't want to be spoiled by reading the other thread.
I would like people's comments on this game in general. Is it worth it to buy at full price or wait?
I heard it is mega-hard but that means that the game would probably take a long time to beat.
Anyways, comments please

I agree with Coolisme on what he said.
With an Atlus game it is very hard to get it on a discounted price before it sells out. The only game I got like that was Persona4.
Anyways, back to the game. Every enemy can kill you even the ones in the starting world (1-1). As you progress, you will learn new tactics to deal with every different enemy. There are no checkpoints in any between the stages and if you die, you have to do it all over again and hope you don't die along the way. You die along the way, you will lose all your previously gained experience.
Its brutal like that but not overly hard if you are cautious about your surroundings and look at what equipment the enemy is using.
Also, if you are in a black tendancy world, all of the enemies get tougher. Things that take 2-3 hits to kill you, will 1-2 hit KO you and your damage output will be reduced.Last edited by taro-chan; Nov 2nd, 2009 at 03:00 PM.

Have to agree with the other comments. Was hooked by the other thread and very glad I bought it.
I have finished all but the last boss and just finishing up the pure black and white tendency side stories.
Even now with most of the weapones and magic/miracles. I am still afraid to rush into an area. I haven't felt that kind of fear from a game in a long time(Resident evil one maybe?) and I think that is a good thing.
Looking forward to plaing New game+ soon and changing style of play from range to melee ... I want to use my BIG swords on the enemy :P_______________

I finished the game with 100% platinum and it took me 78 hours. I bought the deluxe edition ($79)... that works out to about $1 per hour, so I guess it was worth it, lol.
What I didn't like about the game is how necessary it is to eventually use a guide to find items and modify world/character tendencies. I played my first time through without reading spoilers and avoiding message boards (as I do with any rpg). In hindsight I probaby should've used a guide anyway, because the storyline in this game is virtually non-existant and there are way way way too many missable one-time items in this game.
Personally I think the difficulty of the game is overexaggerated. The two hardest parts in the game are A) when you start out because you are so underleveled and underequipped, and B) when you start New Game+ because the monsters level up and you become underleveled yet again. But once you figure out how to overcome this (hint: it's called leveling up), then the game is fairly routine.Last edited by appleb; Nov 2nd, 2009 at 04:11 PM.

I was more cautious when I played during the halloween event. Now, I don't even feel like I need armor. Game is actually pretty easy now.
