The forums used to foster intelligent discussion, I guess it's gone downhill lately? Anyway, my comment about D3 being too short was not meant to troll, but expressed as an actual concern. I loved the series and have been looking forward to the third installment for quite a while now. I can only hope it won't be something I'll finish in 8 hours or so

IMO, the point of Diablo is not to beat the game and say you're done with it. This is why they have normal nightmare and hell. For the better drops and the difficulty will require better items. This makes the game playable for a very long time. Most people play to get the best items and mainly for PVP.

I also don't like that there is no customization with the stats and skills. Now its pretty much who has the best item wins. Although in D2 if you had really good items you know what to put in your stats and skills anyways.

I wasn't too intrigued with the beta either. Maybe cause gaming was a lot more fun when you are in your teens and all your friends are playing.

Yeah, for sure. I played D2 like crazy just to get better loot. Sadly it seems nowadays that won't do it any more .

Got beta key on Feb 1st, was going for beta-max (13 everything) just witch doc and barbarian to go

I didn't like how it felt like WoW. Cooldowns, salvage (isenchanting), buyback, gems (jewelcrafting), making items (blacksmithing), quest system, potion cool down, future arena(pvp spec) all things that reminded me of WoW

I did like the isometric angle/view and it works really well. Movement is smooth and behind objects/walls are clear and visible. Unfortunately the system req for ultra settings is a notch higher, noticed lag on my 4870 1gb. Spells and abilities we're a nice taste of whats to come. The real money auction house i'm still skeptical, I know paypal and blizz will make lots of dividends off this system. But it takes away from finding an epic item slightly since you can just plop down some cash.

Bag space is great now, town portal in/out to npc stuff, teleport to areas and the like are all great things to reduce downtime.

Sorry to say but I would think those things you've said are now a requirement In today's MMO.

How is cooldown a bad thing?

I think insta-potion spamming and TPs really made D2 a lot easier than it should've been. You gotta actually finesse yourself out of tough swarms now instead of instantly going to town for safety.

I know its funny how so many people complain about cooldown skills.

In reality the few skills that are on cooldown are mostly something like 15-25 seconds. I think cooldowns are fine as long as they are short like that. It forces you to think about when to use it but it doesnt make you go multiple fights without the ability.


And I'm speaking as someone who generally doesn't like having to manage a bunch of cooldown abilities in any game. I often pick passives or spammable things just for the sake of not having to deal with them. I will gladly use the CD skills in D3 though, after playing the beta. They made it feel right. My wizard can use wave of force most fights. I can't spam it, yet its usually ready or close to ready when I need it.

The only super long cooldown for the wizard is Archon. But thats a totally different type of skill which has built in mechanics to make it last longer.


If there was stuff that was on 5 minute cooldown (or 1 hour like LoH was for the WoW pally originally... OMG) that would be an issue, but I think anything under 30-60 seconds is fine for a game like this, as long as it isn't too many different skills with CD's, which so far it looks like it wont be too many.

Blizzard will not release any new games in the first quarter of 2012.

The good news is that Activision's fourth quarter and calendar year 2011 earnings report shows that Blizzard's action-RPG PC game Diablo 3 is still set for a 2012 release despite recent reports of changes to the core systems. The bad news is that it's no longer set to hit store shelves this quarter, but sometime in 2Q12 at the earliest.

"The company's first quarter 2012 outlook does not incorporate a new release from Blizzard Entertainment, but its calendar year 2012 outlook anticipates two releases from Blizzard Entertainment," Actvision reports.

The report also states that, in March 2012, Activision Publishing expects to release the first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection, a compilation of content previously released to Call of Duty Elite premium members, on the Xbox 360. Also on the company's to-do list for 2012 is a new Call of Duty game, to grow Activision's Call of Duty Elite online service, and launch Skylanders Giants, a new title.

"Our extraordinary employees around the world are focused on making 2012 another great year for our audience and stakeholders," said Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick.

In addition to the Diablo 3 delay, Activision revealed that another 100,000 subscribers bailed out on World of Warcraft, leaving 10.2 million active subscribers still grinding through Blizzard's #1 subscription-based MMORPG. Could this drop have anything to do with the December 2011 launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic? It might. Activision Blizzard may even see a rise in numbers this quarter now that many defectors are coming out of their free month of TOR and heading back to Azeroth.

As previously stated, Blizzard looks to release two games this year. The second release will likely be StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm.

they got re-spec in this game? if i'm gonna put all my stats in to forzen orb I want to be able to switch to fire hydra for those mobs that's immune to ice.
