Did Futureshop sold me an opened/second handed APC UPS?
I'm hoping I'm wrong on this and if I'm not, then I'm taking this unit back to FS for an exchange. I recently got a APC UPS. The box looks ok, but far from being brand spankin new. So I open it and everything looks tidy inside, but I see some sort of note. It's a quality assurance test note and it's signed by somebody. Did anyone of you guys got a slip like that inside the box? If so, then ok I was just paranoid. If not, I'm going to be screaming at some FS CS ppl tomorrow.

I think that's normal. The best thing to do is to call APC on their 800 support line. (800) 800-4272

You can call APC but I'm pretty sure on electrical equipment it's normal to see something like that.

All UPS's always come with that document. Be more concerned if you ever receive one without it.

I believe that my Belkin UPS had something similar. It was for QA purposes and tested the unit to make sure it passed all the test before it was shipped and sold.

that receipt is from the QC inspectors... the other person is correct in saying you should be worried if you don't get one... standard operating procedure for APC.
here's another couple things to check:
-was there a yellow sticker over the outlets? usually a warning label is there..
- was the battery connected? I think its a shipping requirement that you can't have the battery connected during transport. normally, you have to plug in the battery before you use it.
cheers

It's means it was tested by APC quality control and it passed the tests.

How can I tell if the battery was connected? There was no yellow sticker on the prong.

It depends on the UPS. For the more high-end versions, you have to connect the leads (within the case) to the battery itself. For lower end versions, it's already done inside of the UPS.
Which model did you get?

Ok, I think that if you had to follow instruction no. 1 from the following:
http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/A...7V73_R0_EN.pdf
Then you most definitely got a brand new UPS.
