Didn't sign for a credit card purchase?

I used my credit card for some regular purchase today and the cashier didn't give me a receipt to sign, she only gave me the sales receipt and the approved CC transaction receipt.
am i still charged for the purchase without a signature..?

Your CC will still be charged. I don't see why you would think otherwise.

If you're intending to wrongfully dispute the charge for some reason, then that is a totally different issue.

Use some sense. You buy things online, you don't need to sign stuff. You bought it and yes, you pay.

If you didnt sign a copy then you could dispute the charge but I would trust you are an honest individual and wouldnt be taking that route... As when the chargeback request gets to the company they will have no proof and no signature of the purchase.

My only question is about online retailers that allow you to pay by CC but dont require a signature, or how about gas pumps when you pay outside... Why is it that some places require your signature and others are allowed to get away without your signature?

the signature is to pretty much cover your tracks as well as theres.

for websites you click and check a statment saying you are who you say you are.

as for gas stations they have you on record taking punching in your cc and your car\plates if there is a dispute that you didnt do that they could always look for the videos .

stores like bestbuy and fs are supposed to look at each signature and anypurchase that is over 500$ they are able to ask for id to make sure that you are not tryi gnto fraud both them and the cc company

I think the theory is that by clicking "ok" to the purchase, that acts as your "online signature". In the case of the gas pump, it is actually you that swipes the card, not the merchant, so the act of swiping acts as your authorization.

if you buy stuff online, you don't sign the receipt...but if you buy stuff at a b&m store....you are required to sign the receipt if the store asks you to...if they don't ask you to...u will still get charged...however, if you file a charge back, you will most likely get all your money back cuz there is no signature to prove that you purchase the item....if you did sign the receipt and you file a chargeback, you have a good chance of not getting any money back....

Different merchants have different capabilities. You have to jump through more hoops to accept CC's over the phone for example. Many online and mail order stores are taking advantage of the "access code" that CC companies are starting to include on most cards. Its 3 digits on the back of the card that you must include to verify you actually have the card in hand and haven't lifted the CC number and expiriy date from somewhere.
