This drive seems to be around $120 regular price at other places. Seems like $50 off. I'm not able to find many reviews on this drive. I might get flamed for this one, but seems like a deal to me.

Not a bad price, but it's also not a hot price. If this was an m.2, that'd be hot!

Thanks for you input. I'm looking for an mSata drive for an Intel NUC to basically just run my Windows 8 OS.

what NUC do you have ?

I have one that uses msata as well and have been trying to find either a cheap msata drive or an adapter to allow me to use a regular sata drive.

all I have found so far is this - http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_ ... d4uqmirhn0

Will this work on Desktop PC if I have extra PCI-E slot?

I'm 90% sure it doesn't. I think you need a converter for it in there

Where'd you find that info? Pictures look like Marvell controller and Toshiba NAND, though it's pretty fuzzy and may not even be the right pic. But seems good if that's all true.

I believe the information and picture came from here....

http://www.liteonssd.com/index.php?opti ... Itemid=177

From what I can tell, it's a re-branded Plextor M6M with a 1 yr warranty instead of a 3 yr. I've been looking at it for the last couple of days. NCIX.ca had it for $69.99 yesterday.

I believe it will be reliable since it's Plextor, but the warranty is short and I don't know about firmware updates.

I bought one of these on last weeks NCIX sale for $69.99 to stick into my Inspiron 15z. For a mSATA SSD that uses toshiba toggle Nand and has a Marvel controller that was tweaked by Plextor, I was so surprised that that it wasn't getting more attention.

or

$82 120G http://www.ncix.com/detail/crucial-m500 ... 7-1350.htm

I need to add one for my NUC. Going to try dual boot Hackintosh (on the msata) and Windows 8.1 (already setup on a regular ssd)
Crucial is far more reliable than Liteon. If it were me, I'd rather spend the extra $12 to get the Crucial one.

Thanks for the posts. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of Crucial SSD drives as I have 2. The problem with comparing the Crucial M500 to the Lite-On SMS-128L9M is the max seq. writes are 150 MB/s vs 350 MB/s, the capacity of the two drives are 120Gb vs 128 Gb, and as was mentioned, $12 cheaper for the Lite-on. I think when weighing all these factors, it makes a compelling argument for the Lite-on even with a shorter warranty period. Of course this is just my opinion.

all the best.

How much of a boot time difference would there be with this msata drive vs say a WD black 2.5" SATA drive? I'll be booting Windows 8.1.

Since msata is a SSD and NOT mechanical, extremely fast. I used to have a WD Black in my Win 7 laptop and it took about 1 min (drive was almost full to capacity) to boot. Then I switched to an SSD (not a msata but a SATA one - Toshiba Q) and it took less than 25secs (drive is almost full as well). Also, programs load almost instantly (5secs of less for me) with a SSD.
