According to this weeks Sears flyer, they claim they've lowered prices on appliances because of the strong CAD dollar ...I really didn't see any deals and all the prices looked about same as before, I wish I had an old flyer to compare because I would love to call their bluff and I want to get my Mom a new dishwasher for xmas.

AVOID whirlpool appliances at all cost if u can. I bought whirlpool stainless steel package of appliances from the builder. We were unable to shop around for health reasons and so stuck with the builder package.
I about 2 years the dishwasher satrted rusting and the stems rust and are breaking off. Now it's been 5 yrs and I have only a couple of the stems to hold the dishes. This happened after the warranty and whirlpool would not do anything to fix it after several calls.
The fridge has been making noises from the begining and when I called for the technician, he says you have id cards fallen behind which will cause the noise. The still is there now.
The ceramic stove handle gets loose and might come off if not handled carefully.
I would agree its a faulty piece if there was problem with just one appliance but what do you say when its the whole set?
I have used sears dishwashers, fridge and stove for about 7 yrs in the condo we lived earlier. I should say they r really good and worth your money.
I have a sears washer dryer I bought in my home the same time I bought these appliances and have had no problems with it so far.
So go for Sears brand, they r worth every penny you spend on them.
AVOID whirlpool.

Had a brand new GE D/W that was supposed to be quiet, it wasn't and it sucked at washing dishes
Bought a Miele D/W - AMAZING! You can't even hear it when it is running and washes the dishes great. Top tray for cutlery is very handy too
Worth spending a little more for a Miele or Bosch

If money is not an issue, then Bosch or Miele. If you are on a budget and looking for the best bang for your buck, it would be Maytag!!!

+1 for Bosch. Have had one for 7 years now, quiet, not a single problem and does a really good job washing the dishes compared to a KitchenAid that we had a not-so-good experience with.
I checked the sound ratings on many dishwashers before I bought mine (open concept dining/kitchen), the Miele actually was just slightly quieter, but quite a bit more money than the Bosch we ended up buying.

Store brands (Kenmore from Sears, Beaumark from The Bay), etc. are all made by name-brand manufacturers (Whirlpool, GE, etc.) So if you do your research, you may get a better bang for your buck with one of these, especially if you can take advantage of any store promotions.
We got a Kenmore dishwasher ourselves and I have been pretty happy with it for over a year.
Our in-laws have a Miele and while it is quiet and the design is nice, theirs has broken down at least several times and it's only a few years old.
Things to consider:
- Stainless steel inside (white plastic insides can stain).
- Do you really need all of those funky settings?
- Do you want to be able to adjust the height on your top tray?
- How many sprays do you want?
These are things that will affect the price range you're looking at.
