Dislocated Finger

I was just wondering if, after dislocating a finger will this particular finger be much more probable to dislocate again? Like will it become weak and every time i touch something it pops out? Or will it have to be another strong impact.

While i understand that there is a higher chance, im just wondering how i can also prevent and reduce the odds of dislocating it again.

I play a number of sports and having a finger that constantly pops in and out of its socket is not what im looking forward to.

Yes, once a finger is broken/dislocated it is more prone in uninjured.

Are there like any physio therapy i can do for it? When i did this to my ankle i did some physio for it and it healed up really well.

just use that dislocated finger to pick your nose more..........both nostrils even...

the picking will help strengthen the muscles of the joint and finger.



hahah jk....but I do know for basketball, Nike makes these little sleeves that go over the finger, should protect it....

or you can tape it to the other finger as suggested before.

I dislocated my right ring finger playing baseball when I was 13 or 14. (I still say I was safe! ). I have never had any problems with it since, except the knuckle is a little larger, and it doesn't bend completely (that is, I can't curl it up quite as far, but only by a few millimetres).

My shoulder, on the other hand, has separated again, although, not in the last few years. I'd say that unless you're doing something very high impact, your finger should be fine, and chances of popping out are no different than the rest of your fingers. Just keep it in a metal brace for a while, and tape it to another finger after that. Once it heals, you're good to go.
