The Distillery District
We're thinking about going to the Distillery District with our grandma... From what I can see from the photos, it looks pretty cool, and I like the pedestrian only idea.
If you have been there could you offer me any advices? Things to be seen that cannot be missed? Where should I park and start the tour from? Any free parking near the area?
Thanks peeps!

It's not that complicated to get there, but if you're from the north end of town and have never been, here are a few tips
The best parking is off Parliament street, south of Front. If you're going south, after front, there is a distillery parking lot on your left. Metered parking basically, but it puts you smack dab in the courtyard where most of the action/stage stuff takes place.
The events vary, but the district is usually busy on weekends.
- Check out Soma chocolatier in the district for some really good chocolate stuff, albeit expensive
- The mill street brewery patio is very calm for a good lunch, they also have musicians playing in the patio out back. I absolutely love the vibe here.
Friday nights, it's latin nights. they have a latin dj, some salsa...its amazing..
- Perigee is a great restaurant to check if you have 5 hours to kill and a fat wallet
- The bakery by the main entrance has a few good bites.
ps. I dont think there's any free parking. this is downtown after all.

Make sure you wear comfortable shoes. Don't wear stilettos. Some areas have uneven cobblestones. Nasty things. I'm not to sure about parking (I used TTC). For a huge place like the Distillery, what I find lacking, are benches.

Go during the day so you get a chance to go into all the different studios inside the buildings.
There is free parking 2 streets north of the district, north of the movie studio. But most of it is pay parking around the area.

Park for free @ Toronto Humane Society. Which is under the Queen St. bridge on the west side.

We have a grandmother with us who is in her 70's... Thanks for your post but I think we'd better pay for parking!

Yeah, it's kind of late to go now... We'll just check out the Lakeshore area this evening and the District will have to be seen either tomorrow or next weekend.. I hope the Mill St. Brewery will be open by then!
