DIVx & Sony Blue Ray Player
Is it possible that a Sonly blue Ray player is not able to play a movie in DivX?? Or does the Blue Ray need to be updated somehow???
I'm not too Tech Savvy and was shocked to hear one of my friends wasn't able tp play a movie on her Blue Ray, but I could play it on my 5 year old LG

Yeah, a lot (possibly the majority) of Blu-Ray players can't handle divx. What's the model number of the player in question?
I'd suggest sticking to the proper brands and avoiding Sonly in the future

I think the only Divx Blu Ray player is the PS3.
Ask your friend to buy a $40 DVD player that handles Divx (CDN Tire, Loblaws, etc ususally have some).

It is fairly perplexing why a fairly capable Blu-ray player Sonly makes does not incorporate DivX feature as everything is there including a USB port.
I don't care much for poor quality video anymore so it is no big deal for me, if I need to play something, my HTPC can do the job anyways. The newer TVs that Samsung is making will play back these formats also. A <$50 media jukebox or as suggested cheapo DivX DVD player will do as well.
