DIY shutter release?

Has anyone here made a shutter release themselves?

I have the Canon T1i and am looking to make one myself...

If you google, you'll get a lot of pages for DIY shutter releases.

It looks pretty simple, but i never got around to it.

I tried doing one but when I was looking at the materials needed, it was a lot cheaper to get a cheap one from ebay or dealextreme or someplace cheap :cheesygri . In the end I just bought a wireless one, makes it a little bit easier for me. But if you have some stuff lying around and some tools, diy is cheaper since you don't need to buy anything, that is if you already have most or all of the parts/tools needed.

Here check this link if you are interested in a rebel diy remote http://martybugs.net/photography/remote.cgi

Was thinking of buying a wireless remote and making a connected one... unless its just cheaper/easier to buy that too.

Any comments on using infrared vs a wireless adapter thingy for my T1i?

The wireless remote I have can be used as a connected one. I just unplug the wire from the top receiver and plug it in the transmitter and it works.

I want an infrared but my damn camera doesn't have infrared  It makes it easier and cheaper.

Right now my project is to make a wireless usb connector, for wireless tethering.

cant really go wrong....

for $4 its def worth a shot esp since the reviews seem good

the radio ones are more expensive but also more useful imo. anything that requires line of sight sucks! esp the canon wireless flash system but thats a whole different can of worms

I was almost set on getting the RF-602's...

Until I found on ebay, buy it now, them for $1 cheaper!
So I couldn't decide!

Im having the same problem. I need three packages so Im negotiating with a bulk rate with a Chinese ebay seller, not the easiest thing to do.

HAHAHA. Negotiating with a Chinese seller? LOL, that's next to impossible. ;)

Wanna add another one, so we both can get it cheaper? :D
