Django/Python Developer (Toronto / Mississauga)

We are a rapidly growing start-up seeking an ambitious and entrepreneurial self-starter that wants their work to truly have impact. You will be an integral member of our small team of five and help develop and launch a product. Our web service is currently in private-beta and will be launching by January 2011.

You will be given as much responsibility and latitude as you can handle. As such, we are looking for someone who can take initiative, learn new technologies quickly, work with limited supervision and has a high degree of maturity. You will be encouraged to initiate your own ideas and suggest solutions to problems.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Design and develop new components and functionality for our existing web platform and integrate with partner services
- Design and develop UI components using AJAX and CSS
- Work to improve overall system usability and performance

Preferred Skills:

- Previous experience in web development, preferably using Ruby on Rails, Python/Django, PHP, or Java
- Exposure to web design using CSS and AJAX frameworks such as jQuery, GWT
- Understanding of relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL or Oracle
- Knowledge of web service information exchange technologies such as XML, SOAP, REST

This position is based in Mississauga. Flexible hours are available with opportunity to telecommute.

The ideal candidate has recently completed an undergraduate degree in computer science/engineering/mathematics has a willingness to take risks, a strong appetite to learn, can easily get along with others, and has great communication skills. You will be working with a group of young, energetic, and entrepreneurial individuals.
