Do Compression Socks Work?

Hola,

Was curious to see what people who sit for a living (like myself) thought about compression socks. I saw a funky designed one on Amazon recently and since I work in software, thought it was kind interesting.

Any experience with compression socks for sitting?

They can 100% be effective but don't cheap out on what you purchase. There are good and bad styles, and if you want true compression look for graduated compression styles measured in 15-20mmHg (millimetres of mercury). Graduated compression come in mild, medium and firm. I suggest 15-20mmHg for everyday effective use, look for Merino Wools not synthetic materials.

I work in this industry by the way...

That's interesting. Are the merino wool ones more durable or comfortable?

Look for Sockwell on Amazon if that is where you shop...They manage moisture better then synthetic materials, should last longer yes. Lots depends upon your usage, etc. They are Natural fibres, big plus. Comfort will depend upon cushioning in the sole as well as compression factor. Look for Bamboo in these socks they will also keep bacteria away/anti microbial.

May cost you a bit more, but worth it IMOl

On the topic, any thoughts on Voxx Life? I don't like that they're an MLM, but their products seem convincing.

@redsfan what's your take on VL?
I hate MLM and Voxx stinks of this...I cannot find any clinical proof that they work as advertised, just marketing IMO. They do seem convincing, but I have a hard time understanding how they can be effective. I have tried finding legit info on the but can't. You could try a pair and see, but I wouldn't put money on it.

So your recommendation is to go with Sockwell on Amazon?

If you have a medical condition I would consult a doctor before buying anything...if you are just looking for an everyday compression sock because you travel, on your feet all day type of thing I think that would be fine. If you have any of the medical issues Voxx claims they can help with I would see a specialist prior to trying these, I would think they can give stronger advice, etc..Other options out there perhaps as well.

Yup...if you need for a medical condition you would want ones that are measured for your size.

There are 3 measurements required so the right fit of socks can be provided to you (I forgot what they are but you can easily look them up).
