Do I need to turn in my Canadian Passport when I renew it?

But if you are driving to the US, you'll be fine.
I went with the cut corner and cancelled stamped on mine, they didn't ask anything and let us through very quickly.
Definately a YMMV situation.

If you're traveling to the States to say, take a flight elsewhere; might not want to take a chance on being forced to turn back because of lack of proper identification (if you're on a tight time schedule).
