Do renters actually invest their money they save from renting?
I don't think so and I will give 3 examples:
1. Statistics: Statistics show that renters are over 30 times poorer than homeowners
2. Real Life: In real life, when I've encountered dozens of people who rent, they are usually cash strapped. Late on rent payments, credit card payments, etc. We can conclude that if you can't even make cc payments on time, then there is low chance of you actually having money to invest.
3. In the RFD forums: I don't think I've seen any Real Estate bear here actually discuss any in depth investment strategies or tax minimization strategies save 1 or 2 people and those 2 aren't even RE bears per say.
They don't bother going on every RE Thread to talk down RE as if they have something vested to lose.
Therefore, I am inclined to believe that renters are indeed poor and have no money and like to talk big as if they have the cash to buy a property.
"Yeah I am saving sooo much money from renting and investing the difference when stocks are hitting all time highs!!!"
Sounds like a classic case of all hat, no cattle.
