do you always use a lens hood?

i only put mine on to reduce flare if it's a bright day outside or when using a CP - but i've read in a lot of forums that people keep them on all the time (indoors/outdoors, only exception is when transporting)

thoughts?

I haven't taken much pictures with my DSLR but I think taking it off indoors will allow more light to pass through the lens. I could be wrong though.

I only use it when it is sunny outside.

If you want to decrease chances of lens flare, use it.
If you want to increase chances of lens flare, don't.

Lens hoods are function over form.

I have a digital SLR and I use my lens hood 95% of the time. Even indoors because ceiling and wall lights and floor lamps can sometimes cause flare.

Mine is on 99% of the time. Its mainly for protection. I'm not careless with my camera, but sometimes I just can't help it when sometimes my "lens" bangs/scratches a wall. I put quote on lens because if my lens hood wasn't on it would be my lens getting damaged.

If you look at my lens hood, you can see some marks on it :P

The other 1% is when I'm using a polarizer, I don't know how people turn it with the lens hood :S.

On all the time. Only off when a CPL is attached.

Almost always. I don't care about flare as much as the hood keeping the lens clean (from fingers) much better than using a silly UV filter.

Interesting.... mostly everyone uses the hood 99% of the time. I don't shoot with my SLR much, but the times that I do, I only notice that I need the hood when shooting in the sunny outdoors. I guess it doesn't hurt to keep it on all of the time.

I put mine on if I can remember to. When I change lenses, sometimes I forget to attach the hood. Otherwise it goes on all the time.

I use mine every time unless I'm using the built-in flash.
