Do you have a plastic cover over the remote?
Hi, do you have plastic covering the remote control, the dining room chairs, the lamp shades, etc? I have seen this in more than one home. Is this OK or is it ghetto?

Hahahahah not be but I know people who do it, it looks hilarious. After a few years the plastic gets so dried up when you touch the lampshade the plastic flakes off.
I guess remote, ok fine I'll give you that one, but dining room chairs and Lamp shade.....

I don't even keep the plastic screen covering on the screen of a new cell-phone!
Its ridiculous when the protection used to protect a device or something, is uglier than if that device were scratched up.
And how bout all those chinese students (mainly girls) who wrap their textbook in like, Hello Kitty gift-wrap and stuff? Its not like its going to garner more money on the used textbook market coz its in 'mint' condition

It's not just a Chinese thing. My friend's Italian. And not only is the TV remote covered up, his entire living room is roped off and not for use.
As for covering up the TV remote, it's a cleanliness thing. I bring a plastic bag with me when I go to hotels and cover up the TV remote before I use it.
Haven't you heard the report where they even found seminal fluid on hotel TV remotes?

Most people consider shrink-wrapping the remote control, putting plastic wrap on the sofa, leaving the tag on your clothes as social taboo. However, as society progresses into a more cost-conscious mood, this has become a more common thing to do. For instance, we have this done because if we were to damage our converter, it would be hard to get a replacement for the unit it belongs to as it is a propriatory system.
