Do You Have Post-Traumatic School Disorder?

Post-Traumatic School Disorder, ie., don't want to go to school and think about how much you hate going back to school just a few days or few weeks after summer has started.. or right around now, just 3 more weeks of school left, you're probably worrying every other second and not even gaming or watching TV can get that mind off your head...

I tihnk I have some of that, even though after school starts I usually just get on with life

I'm going into my 4th year, and I don't have any spares I want a spare so I can catch-up with teachers or do something extra-curricular. I don't want to go to skool

Yeah...my brain is off as well, it happened right after the Raptors won the #1 pick..ahhah spent all day reading RealGM waiting for news I basically tanked my math, biology, and chemistry exam hahah...good thing my average didn't suffer much.

sometimes i wake up in a cold sweat, after having a nitemare that I have to go back to highschool to take credits to further my career.

I think the way it works is that you've scared only because you've been to school before and know how "bad" it is.. at least I think that's why it's post-, I didn't make this up, lol!

The name of your condition doesn't even make sense. Post-traumatic refers to something that you suffer from after some traumatic event.

Post-traumatic school? Wouldn't that mean going to school after some traumatic event? Has your summer gone that badly?

Anyway, I think that if you've completed high school, you should never have to dread going back to school. If you're in post-secondary, and you still dread going back to school, then you really need to switch schools or switch programs.
I mean, you should be studying because you enjoy studying, particularly the material that you've chosen (in the program you've chosen).
Otherwise, if you're in a program you hate, then why are you doing it? Isn't that probably what you'll be doing for the rest of your life?

People around here need to go to school because they actually want to go to school, and not because they're "supposed" to, or because their friends and/or family requires them to.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not excited about class and assignments, but 25 hours of school a week sure beats 55 hours of work.

homework, projects, tests, quizzes easily make it more than 25.

school is fun compared to the real world. work is exactly that, work. high school has stress, but consequences are not nearly as dire or permanent.

even university is a blast, especially the first couple of years. the last couple might feel like work, but you should be used to it by then.

grad school is almost real world, but not quite

the real world has 10x the stress and responsibilities

when you're in high school, you think it's hell, but 10 years later, you'll know that school, of any kind, is not like the real world--just wait until you have children, a mortgage, serious debt, car payments, bills to pay, a house to run (repairs, renos, cleaning, maintenance), shopping for essentials, cooking for your family, and you're working 8+ hours a day, plus taking work home. . .

. . .that's trauma

wait til you're in Uni, I have 32 solid hours of class a week, yay fun, and with spares, i spend about 40 hours a week at school, oh but wait, with group work and stuff, that's easily 45+ hours a week, yay, i get to have no life again!

oh, and i forgot to add time for studying for tests and stuff too, so......ya, wait til you're in Uni

anyways, in high schl, if you honestly focus on homework when you're doing hwk (not msn, tv, bf/gf, RFD, etc) you can easily do well in schl with just 2 hours of studying everyday, i manged to do that for a month or 2 in grade 12, but eventually, distractions and procrastination got the better of me

I'm half excited and worried about going back to college. I count the days as it gets closer to a fresh semester. My summer is coming to an end which is pretty good because my favorite season is on the way--"Winter".

Everytime a day before i get back to school, i couldn't sleep at all.
Use your time wisely.

in what way?

in high school, if you screw up, you get second and third chances. horrendously late assignments are always accepted (as per the ed act) and successful appeals are made over teachers' and principals' heads all the time. students regularly return for victory laps and upgrade their marks, and until you turn 21, the door is rarely closed to you (barring repeated criminal behaviour).

whereas, in the real world, if you're late on a deadline, you lose your job. rarely are there second or third chances for anything. appeals (if possible) usually fail, and once a door is closed, you're often blackballed forever.

the only real consequences in high school are if you opt not to try--obviously dropping out has serious consequences, but by the same token, in the real world, not trying produces far more serious results. . .
