Do you think if Obama were running for office in Canada not the US, he would win?
Curious what you think.
My opinion is, he wouldnt...I just cant picture it.
for one, I think he'd seem to "hawk-ish". For another, I dont get the alleged charisma to him, I see him as robotic and Ignatieff-like.
Additionally, I think he comes across as more "manufactured" than most of Canadas leader or heirs apparent, who have a bit more of a down to earth, human side to them.
And then theres the Francophone thing.
Maybe we're more racist or just have a smaller black population as well (possibly with different sentiments due not having a history of slavery here)?
Please vote.
I have no idea what "other" could mean, so please elaborate...I just wanted there to be more poll options._______________
One more year of tellin' it like it is.

Just what has Obama done? He's just proven that he's a man of all talk, no substance. Maybe it can him elected once, but re-elected is another story.

I can't imagine any american politician gaining much traction here. Their ideologies are way too extreme. I would probably vote for him over Harper but not over a real conservative.

after the last 4 years of performance... I say no.
however, if Politicians are judge solely on performances, we'd be a much better world now.

No chance. Even an American politician like Obama who is pretty far left would be considered an extremist in Canada. We are a very leftist country in comparison to the U.S. Harper would be considered FAR to liberal to stand a chance in the U.S. and Obama would be considered FAR to conservative to stand a chance in Canada.

He has a chance of winning, but the surge of support to get him a win would not be the same as it was in the States when he was campaigning the first time around. I mean, his platform and personality was appealing, but the symbolic milestone of him becoming the President played a large part in securing his win.
Hmm...Obama the person/leader has a chance of winning. But I think our elections depend less on stellar personalities (cough) and more on goals and whatnots. So for me to decide whether Obama would win a Canadian election would depend on the platform Obama the Hypothetical Canadian is running on/for.Last edited by 45ED; Feb 8th, 2012 at 11:21 AM.

Yes, he would win. Any logical person watching what he has to deal with in the U.S. can see that the guy is facing a bunch of conniving, selfish, entitled bickering fools (okay true true he will be having a similar screeching battle here, but at least they tend to be more reasonable).
Please stop judging Obama on the last 4 years, given what the previous regimes did to that nation.

Sure, if he was running against a Republican.

With the same policies? No.
But Obama's policies and Harper's policies and dictated by the political landscape that they are in._______________

Yeah, I mean, how could one even answer this question? We don't know Obama's stance on many or most issues that matter to Canadians.

Obama was a poor black man raised by his grandmother and pulled himself up. To me that is enough for my vote.
Everyone says Obama can not run based on his record, but he can and should run on his record; healthcare reformed, last 5 months of steady job growth (will probably be a year or more of steady job growth by the time of elections), killed bin Laden, pulled out of Iraq, pulling out of Afghanistan. He could run based on just any of the 2 things he accomplished in his first 4 years, in the US or in Canada._______________
