if you can get an XP install disc or whatever OS you want, you can more than likely download all the drivers needed from the manufacture of your laptop either before or after the install. Then format it just like a desktop system.

Hi, Im gonna format and reinstall my laptop, the point is i lost my recover CD,so does any1 know how to do format my laptop? thx

Find the key for your Windows install, find a Windows installation with the proper version that will match your key and install it. And what they said above.

if your using windows, actually you can get the product key from your system, just use this little program called Magicaljellybean Found Here

You may want to nuke the hard drive first to eliminate any hidden partitions, etc. set up by the vendor to aid recovery.
Make sure you back up everything, including email, favorites, etc. first.
