does anyone know any good family doctor
my MD for the past few years has been a disaster... never spends more than 5 mins with me, and keeps me waiting for at least 30-45 min for scheduled appointments... and even then, he never offers any insights into my problems and illnesses... just sends me home telling me "it's nothing" -- even the time when i had a horrible cough for 4 months straight! i couldn't even speak or breath properly...
so i'm looking for referrals to a more competent doctor, if anyone here knows or uses one... btw, i'm in the north york (yonge and finch) area
many thanks in advance!

The hard part is finding a family doctor that is currently accepting new patients. I have a really good family doctor, but he isn't accepting new patients and is about 5 years from retirement. I'm concerned about what will happen when he retires due to the shortage of family physicians. If he finds someone to take over his office, I hope they are as competent as him. Despite that, there are times I have had to wait more than 30 minutes in his waiting room, although I don't feel rushed when I get in to see him.
I don't know your location, but if you're in Ontario, you can search here and select "accepting new patients" to find which doctors in your area are accepting new patients. It is usually up to date, but you do have to call to make sure they still are accepting new patients when you find someone in your area:

you should really list the area in which you are looking.
that will help narrow down your search.
as for your doctor?? lol i don't know what that's about.
but most doctors in canada at least are NOT accepting any more patients..
i mean why should they? they have a salary cap.
there is a shortage of doctors!!!

My doctor is fantasic. Listens to me, cares about my health. He is friendly, intelligent and my age. I couldn't ask for a beter doctor.
Good luck!

as someone who already HAS a family doctor, you will likely find it downright impossible to find someone who'll accept you as a patient.
with something in the range of 20% of people without a dr at all, the very few who are accepting patients will only accept patients that do not currently have a dr.

Having a few friends make it through med school and become doctors, I've learned an interesting truth: Most medical research goes into things that will kill you.
This also means that most doctors are trained to recognize things that will kill you, and prevent them from killing you. One of the best outcomes you can have from a doctor is to have them tell you that you're OK, or that they can't find anything wrong.
Good luck finding a new doctor, they are not easy to find.
