I don't think they can, the portion sizes & types of food can be quite different. Even comparing burger places, a whopper may or may not have more meat than a 1/4 lb, or it may cost more, pretty hard to price match as the product isn't the exact same

Their "price matching" is offering free coffee at the same time when you could get a free coffee from Roll Up The Rim at TimHortons.
What if there were no hypothetical questions?

I've heard SOME locations in the states do. If you bring in your coupons from a competitor, they give you comparable sandwiches. So if you have a 2 for 1 coupon from burger King, mcdonalds will match. Canada locations don't do this

Ive had success at two different McDs locations in honouring BK coupons.

They will do two can dine etc PMs if they have a similar promo on and you dont have a coupon for it.

One time they didnt have a promo on and the manager just did an override.

Why would McDonalds even entertain this headache? I would have more respect if they told customers to f off

2 dollars? Clearly you have ate there lately. Their prices are pretty crazy for some crappy fast food. Only time I eat there is when they have $2.50 wraps.

Except coffee at TimmyHos isn't free so that's price beating.

All McDonald's I tried accept competitor coupons. I used a 2 for 1 coupon from A&W and from Burger King and the whopper meal for $5. The cashiers always say they don't take it so I ask to speak to a manager and they take it.

I knew an assistant manager who worked part time at McDonalds that was frequented by drunk people late at night. He says he used to buy a bunch of Whoppers at the nearby Burger King on Saturdays before work and if a (drunk) customer really wanted to order a Whopper, he'd give him one and the owner would pay him back on payday. Probably violated a bunch of policies, but it kept the customers from being troublesome which is probably why the owner went along with it.
