If its too good to be true... its not true.
I can't imagine how a little box over your water supply could possible soften your water.... especially if the house is drawing litres of water past the little box every second. Looks and sounds a little too magical to me.

Electronic water softeners use magnetism to disrupt the minerals in the water and make them remain soluable. They're generally unproven probably not as reliable as a traditional salt based system.
Traditional salt systems are tried and true. Salt isn't such a big deal - 4.50 - 5.00for 25KG. 100KG lasts a LONG time, at least 4 - 6+ months for a family of 4, and probably a year or 2 for 2 people.
Only thing with sodium systems it that the sodium content of the treated water CAN (supposedly) harmful to you in the long run. But a RO system takes care of this.

Fair enough.... it may or may not work depending on your source water.

IF this works as advertised then all it does is prevent scale from forming on the inside of pipes and tanks. It does not change the fact that the lime is still present in the water and in a shower stall when the water evaporates you will still have the scale left behind. Same thing in a coffee pot, steam iron and the like. Water gone - scale left behind.

I saw something like this a few years ago, and didn`t pay it much attention. But, then decided, WTH, and deduced (on my own) that the rare earth magnets from an old HDD would have a similar effect. This was after my water softener bit the big one. And I didn`t want to replace it because we are moving soon.
So, I have 3 of the magnets, creating a triangle around my main, and my water isn`t soft, but it doesn`t show some of the signs that I know other homes have in my area - I don`t get the scale on my taps, buildup on coffee pot, etc.
Works better than nothing for me, and it was free.Last edited by jed; Nov 8th, 2009 at 03:40 AM.

But the product doesnt' say it creates a magnetic filed, it sends a AM frequency soundwave throughout the pipes...
What is Hydropath Technology?
The WORLD-WIDE patented technology is able to induce a strong propagating electric field (AM signal) in a pipe system without using electrodes in residential homes, commercial apartments and condos, industrial applications, residential and commercial swimming pools, saunas, steam rooms and many other areas that require a clean constant flow. This is the only product of its kind!
