Chances of being taxed are low, Priority is great and is the service I always insist on using.
The seller did you a favor by not shipping with UPS, because their brokerage fees are CRAZY.

Doh! EBAY Shipping from the States to Canada?
Hi everyone,
In my long search to find a deal on the laptop I wanted, I got lured into the cheap cost of an EBAY item from the States. Basically I am getting a refurbished laptop for $230+$30 shipping. The seller is using 'US Postal Service Priority Mail International' and NOT UPS.
So my question is...what are the chances that I am gonna get taxed? (crosses fingers and wonders why I even bother with EBAY from the States)

I'm not sure how refurb laptops work. Are they considered used? If so you shouldn't have to worry about taxes at all.

afaik Ontario does charge PST, other provinces do not, but I am fairly certain Ontario does.
We are not supposed to be charged taxes on used items either but this may not be considered used because it's a refurb, or it may fall under the other high end electronics section._______________
