At this price it probably has the plastic gears... So it's a cheap grinder from the $ store.

You dont want anything but that for spices. Otherwise the gears will clog. Also this is not a dollar store brand.

It sure can be. But it has plastic gears and wont last long. Its a very good looking mill.

Honestly, ever since I bought a really good pepper mill, I can't imagine using a cheap one ever again. Small luxuries.
