Which Domain Name if .com is Taken?
Which would be best to pick if .com of a particular domain is already taken:
.net, .us, .biz?
It's potentially for a business but just for a simple, single page website.

Why not .ca?

.biz is spammy in my opinion, because it was free (or is it still free?) so EVERY spam email i receive tells me to go to a .biz. It's hard to trust them.
I like .NET

Aug 26th, 2006 07:09 PM #8I'll second that. If its a canadian business I'd trust it a whole hell lot more than a .biz domain

To sum things up: go with .net or .ca, or rename your venture.

.net would be a better choice IMO.
.ca usually cost more. You can easily buy 2-3 years worth of .net domain with the price of a .ca domain.

As two others said, I would recommend going with a different name. People will think of your business name and automatically add a .com to try and go to the website. Think how many times you hear of a business and just guess that their website is .com.
If you're stuck on using the same domain name then I'd only go for .ca.

Seriously, don't even consider anything else if the .com is gone, UNLESS it's an existing business with decades of reputation. In that case, .CA is a reluctant option; but you could forget about .net, .org, .biz, not to say other stupid ccTLDs.
