Domain registration & Web Site Hosting?

Does anyone know a good/cheap domain registration service for a .com address as well as a web site hosting service? Is http://www.canaca.com/ any good? Please advise.

alot of my domain names are with godaddy.com $6.85US/year i think, is what they charge.
For hosting, depends how many people you expect to visit your site, and that will determine the bandwidth you'll need and the space for your contents.

try www.1and1.com or www.hostgator.com hostgator's swamp account has many features, such as unlimited sub domains, ftp accounts, etc. for $14.95US a month.

I would STRONGLY recommending registering your domain name (.com address) at a DIFFERENT place than the one which is going to host your website.

I'd agree with techluv. Try keeping them separate just in case your web hosting provider disappears. As far as domain names go I'd check out namecheap.com

And Canaca -- unless they've cleaned up their act a lot -- avoid them like the plague. It never hurts to fire a few sales questions their way to see how quickly & professionally they respond though

Godaddy is good for domain names, but bad for hosting. They usually have sales on their domain names.

I've heard lots of bad things about canaca, I would avoid them there are much better hosts out there.

I'm not one to normally link to my own sites but be careful about registering domain names through GoDaddy. They have a very public history about disabling domain names they disagree with.

In another case they brought down a domain name of a datacenter because of a site that datacenter hosted. As a result it brought down about ~20 thousand sites with just one domain suspension (nameservers were terminated).

Stick with namecheap.com or enom.com -- both have great histories. They're not the 'cheapest' but an extra buck is by no means expensive when it comes to assurance.

Good point. I'm an enom reseller, but I do have a few .info domains registered with godaddy and I've never had trouble with them. But you are right about these issues with domain suspension.

Same goes for yahoo domains just brutal service.
