I'm concerned that the equipment won't end up in the hands of someone who can really use it, it could be sold off for profit. Does anyone know if the www.als.ca donor program thru the HME/Motion Group is worthy? it sounds ok.

The Red Cross does not accept donated medical equipment. They referred me to www.silvercross.com which is not affiliated with them.

If its just one or two items maybe just post on some forums and see if anyone needs them, You might actually get someone who does

Sadly being rfd, someone would probably just take them and sell it for a profit
GL OP finding a corp. who will put them to good use.

I have a wheelchair that might be donated soon since I cannot find a buyer for it.
I found this on google: http://forums.redflagdeals.com/donat...rs-etc-259890/
You do get a tax receipt for it as well.
Will be looking into this week probably.

CAP is a program that lends wheelchairs and other medical items out to cancer patients with low income. We used the service for my father. They hooked us up with everything we needed, you just return the items back when they are no longer needed. Fantastic program, and everyone there is a vollunteer.

+1 for CAP.
I'm not sure where you live but the Niagara Region has a great program "For the Needy Not the Greedy" Here's their website: http://www.fortheneedy-notthegreedy.com/
It's run by a husband and wife. They're great people! Before my aunt passed my family got practically everything they needed from this organization. A mechanical bed, wheelchair, specialized mattress, all at no cost with the simple promise you return the items when you no longer need them. They even sell adult briefs for $7 a pack (compared at $20+ in stores). They will also sell their equipment once in a while if someone prefers to keep it but they sell stuff at an extremely discounted price. For the most part it's all donations.
