Door latch won???t retract all the way.

The thumb lever from the outside and when you turn the knob from the inside to the left won’t retract the latch all the way. Turning knob to the right is no problem. Do I need to replace the whole door knob or can I just replace the deadhi ge piece?

did you try to lube it up first? see if that helps... if not... maybe it's time for a new knob

What brand, some have lifetime replacement warranty.

This fall I had the same issue on our front door doing the same thing. It turned out to be a worn out part that retracts the latch. Schlage sent me a new entire lock set to replace it

Is the knob loose? Usually they have some wiggle room and they wiggle towards the latch. Try and push it away from the latch and see if that helps.

I just replaced our front door mechanism due to wear.

If you look at my pic, the upper portion is worn causing the latch to not move in fully and would catch on the striker. Since the inside moved on the bottom ring it was unaffected. Weiser sent me a replacement and it took about 5-10 mins to install.

I thought the big box stores and amazon.ca sell replacement latches.

That is why most brands offer a lifetime warranty on their locksets.

Go stand in the corner for that comment! Face With Tears Of Joy This is RFD after all. If we evaluate the cost of sheets for toilet paper, we aren't going to pay for something they can get for free!
