Has anyone had any experiences transferring their domain name? I don't plan to stick with them after a year, but would like to register my domain with them for now as it's free with signup...

Two warnings about these offers from Dreamhost:
1. Forget "unlimited". The fine print says that you must use your hosting primarily for web pages - not as a file host, or you will be shut down.
2. Be careful to turn off the default auto-renew setting, or Dreamhost will automatically charge your credit card about $120 next year to renew hosting at the non-discounted 2nd year price.

Unlimited never means unlimited. You should know that before signing up for any host. Anyway, bit the bullet. My domain got up there pretty fast. Already active. However, one of the little bits on my portfolio doesn't work. Gonna have to get that fixed somehow =/ Worked fine when hosted on my school's server.
Thanks for the tip on auto-renew.

I've been using Dreamhost for three years, and it is *by far* the best host I've used. Very good support. Yeah, $120 sucks after the promotional year, but I'd rather pay that than get the crap service that I've had from other companies.
This is definitely hot. They haven't had any good deals in quite some time.

(unless they change their policy)
3. You must fax your ID in order to confirm your identity because they ca accept you. This is what my friend did the last time. What a jerk... Why a company would ask for your ID? WTF?
And for the #1, YES, they will ask you to use a DEDICATED server if you're using too much traffic (will make their SHARED SERVER with others users UNSTABLE).
