Alcohol won't be banned, it's been around for soooo long, it's just not going to happen. Just to play devil's avocate here... I know what you're saying, alcohol drinks is totally unnecessary, there are other drinks like water / juice / pop which does not have those side effects, besides alcohol actually makes you MORE thirsty! That being side, I'm not an addict, I don't drink at home, but I love getting drunk when I go to weddings with open bar! It would really suck to take this enjoyment away!!! Don't blame the drinks, blame the irresponsible people who use them!
Stay alive, don't drink and drive!

even look at nations which technically have alcohol banned, its not a problem to get a hold of it....theres always an extensive black market. ask people who have gone on vacation to a country where alcohol is 'banned'.
right....because when something is banned, people dont do it.....
'abuse, accidents, and death (murder)' are all illegal as it is....
.......because banning wont stop it from being used!!
i dont know how you came to that conclusion. if anything, bans can just raise associated risks (see: war on drugs).
some people like the taste of various alcoholic beverages.....besides, how do you know it tastes bad if you are always claiming you dont use it?
from what you express in your posts, you'd be more comfortable in a country where removing limbs is punishment for crimes.

He may, but his family doesn't, which was my question after all. To 'die' in jail I mean, as the OP expressed her wishes...

Before you finish school you might want to take a history course or two. You'd learning BANNING IT has already been tried, it was call Prohibition and it failed miserably, just as (as others have mentioned) the war on drugs has failed miserably, and the war on guns has failed miserably.
If you really believe that if alcohol were banned "No more abuse, accidents, death due to this pathetic drink", I do hope you take your educated self elsewhere, because your education has also failed miserably.
And BTW, before you jump to the unreasonable conclusion that anybody who's disagreeing with you is an alcoholic or a drinker at all...I'm a non-drinker

his family doesn't deserve what though? He's still alive. They can visit, shoot the breeze (behind plexi glass), visit him at the hospital jail during his last hours when he's dying, etc.
Making the comparison is completely ridiculous.
It's not like the police randomly picked him up and threw him in jail. He's in jail due to his actions.

I didn't say he shouldn't be in jail, nor did I make a comparison of anything. I said I was surprised that someone who is grieving the loss of a family member would wish another family the same thing. Again, so as not to confuse you, I'm relating this to her stated wish that he die in jail.
