Drive Enumeration Error....!
So I go away for 4 days and come back to both HDs in my computer HOSED. I boot to the recovery via the CD and do a dir on the HD. Both HDs come up with the error in the subject.
My mom who was using the computer at the time said she was playing solitaire when the computer just went out...
I have no idea what happened or how to recover from this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If its both drives...then I'd suggest that maybe the controller burned out or something?
Assuming the drives spin up, and don't make any weird noises, try them in a USB enclosure, or on another motherboard, and see if you can mount them.

While that idea hadn't crossed my mind, I had a spare HD laying around with XP on it. It seems to be running OK so far... Still stumped as to how both drives would go poof... Computer is on a battery backup/surge protector.. I am really at a loss here.

Perhaps the culprit IS THE UPS??
