Driving GTA to Thunder Bay
Hey folks
Me and the GF are leaving tonight to drive to Thunder Bay from Mississauga and we're gonna try to make the best of it by hopefully stopping at any worthwhile places along the way.
Has anybody made the drive before, and if so, any nice landmarks to visit or good food joints to stop at or anything like that? Need suggestions for Thunder Bay itself too, all we have so far is some Finnish pancake house and some type of old fashioned ice cream place...
I know it's gonna be a beautiful scenic drive , any nice viewpoints or places to just stop and get a beautiful glimpse of nature or anything like that?
Pretty much ANYTHING there is worth stopping for, we would do it. We need to actually prolong the drive so we don't arrive ahead of the rest of our party who is flying, so the more suggestions and things to do along the way, the better
Thanks in advance for any advice!!
Cheers

I assume your taking the north of superior route? I drove that a few years ago while driving to Alaska. This message might get you too late but...
Heres a few things I can recommend.
1. The Terry Fox Monument just outside Thunder bay.
2. Eagle Canyon Adventrures. The walk across the bridge is really fun. http://www.eaglecanyonadventures.ca/
3. The large goose in Wawa.
4. Depending on the way you drive, you could take the ferry across lake huron to break up a trip. I believe it only runs twice a day though. http://www.chicheemaun.com/ I took it just since I have never drive my car onto a boat before.
5. Kakabeka fall is pretty. Fort william is supposed to be good, but I never went to fort william.
Hope that helps.

There's nice scenery but not much that's worth stopping for IMHO.
In T-Bay, Sleeping Giant Provincial Park.
The pancake house you mentioned is the Hoito......it's excellent.

Thanks for the replies fellas!
We are here now, we stopped at a bunch of beautiful scenic points throughout the drive including Pebble Beach in Marathon, and stopped at a handful of the gazillion provincial parks along the way which were all really beautiful
Places we've been since being here include the Hoito which was definitely delicious. A place called 5 Forks which was way overpriced and served underwhelming food but had a nice patio.
Today we went to an amazing little beach called Wild Goose Bay where there were tons of people and pretty decent swimming conditions in Lake Superior, we loved it. We are gonna try some place called The Prospector for prime rib tonight.
Overall the drive was definitely long but it's beautiful up here.. Very inspiring even just seeing these parts of nature
I'm pissed I never got to see a moose though on the drive although my girlfriend assures me that's a good thing because the only way we'd be seeing one is if we hit it (knock on wood, lol)
Thanks for the suggestions, we might check out a couple of these places you mentioned above on our ride back
Cheers!
PS: is there anywhere we can go to see a Moose without it being too dangerous? Would love to see one

Oh you don't want to hit a moose. That's a good way to wreck a car.
Did you stop at the Terry Fox memorial?
There're lots of nice scenery along the way, especially if you are not in a hurry. Well, you can't hurry much anyway, as it's not 4-lane major expressway.
