Driving to Maine (kennebunkport) from Buffalo

Although we can likely do it in a day, due to a young child we will likely stop one night - any hotel recommendations and places to eat around Albany(ish)

Also in Maine - Mrs wants to go shopping I suggested New Hampshire - any rec's on shopping malls?

If you're into shopping, then better to stay around here rather than Albany:

If you are going to shop in regular vs outlet stores then Fox Run Mall in Portsmouth NH as you have no taxes in NH. Basic big box stores all in Portsmouth such as Best Buy, Walmart.

Myself I would just leave real early and get their for suppertime, young one will probably sleep a lot of the trip.

Restaurants down their to go to Maine Diner, The Steakhouse in Wells Maine both on route 1.

If you haven't booked Wells Maine has some good spots. We like the following spots Village by the Sea Misty Harbour Resorts and Garrison Suites

Freeport is a neat little town and good outlets along with the flagship LL Bean. Kittery near the NH border is good shopping as well but more strip mall layout. For everything in one place you can also go to Wrentham, MA along the way.

If you are going through new Hampshire you should go to North Conway. Outlets right in the mountains. Really nice.
