All SDTVs are analog; unless you have a DVI/HDMI input, you're not receiving a digital signal.
However, DTV is just "Digital" TV, the TV signal is transmitted as a digital medium - it'll work fine with your analog TV and in fact it should be clearer than basic cable.

i am subscribed to directv satellite and my programming does not come in hd. if i bought a hdtv, but stick with non-hd satellite, would it have any problem receiving/viewing it?
reason is, hd dish must be roof-mounted and my association does not allow roof-mount. my non-hd dish is mounted on the firewall on roof, but tech said hd dish is too large and must be roof-mounted. besides, its pointless for me to get hd satellite since my programming does not come in hd.

You need to check your TV to see if it has an ATSC tuner. Analog TV is NTSC. Many sets sold in 2005 were marketed as HDTV capable. That means they can display HD resolution from an HD source like cable or satellite box, but can't receive over the air DTV signals by antenna.
