Dubai for new grads?
This time next year I will have my M.A. If I can't get a federal government job or something which starts at 45-60k in Canada -- I was thinking about working in Dubai (after watching a newsworld docs reports).
Anyhow, after reading a few threads here it seems like the consensus is that as a new grad you won't really find a job with high wages (they want experience). Is this still true? (most threads were from 06).
It would be great to find a job that pays double in Dubai than crap job in Canada, but I wanted to start research now, find out if it is possible to get hired from Canada since moving to Dubai and trying to find a job seems more risky.

What type of qualifies as experienced enough. 1-2 yrs? > 5 yrs?
And what type of experience say you were looking for something within the financial market.

I think you are mistaken. Anyone with a foreign passport+ basic degree qualifications + some experience will easily obtain a job there. They pay top notch salaries as well.

I know a friend of a friend who's a site project manager for one of the new mega projects they are building in Dubai. He's getting 3 times the pay for the 2 years he'll be over there compared to what he can make here in Canada.
The downside, from what I've heard is that...its a different country and culture with different laws. You're considered an outsider, thus there will be certain things you can't do and certain places you cannot go. So if you don't mind certain restrictions are your civil liberties and/or rights its a good chance to make $$$$$. However, if you are the type that doesn't like restrictions (like certain areas of the city you cannot enter, you can only socialize with workers only and not with the Dubai citizens)...this is not the environment to be working in.
If your Dubai employer fires you, you can't just apply to another place. You are sent packing back home.
Why is it that every new grad...thinks its their right to get paid a certain amount of $ without any real world experience? you gotta start at the bottom and work your way up.

Dubai is the place to be, if you got decent experience. A friend of my gf got a job as a Sr BA making about 150k USD + rent money (not sure how much) for a 1 year contract. But he does have a fair bit of work experience, and had some job connections there. Also from what I understand it is becoming increasingly Western friendly. There are tons of restaurants, a decent nightlife, great shopping, hell they are even bringing over Eastern Euro girls for...social purposes.

So does anyone know how you would go about getting hired in Dubai?
Any good websites or contacts?

My dad used to work in Dubai about 10 years ago so I got to live there for a couple of years. For a middle-eastern country, it's quite westernized considering only a small minority are the local arab people. The majority are expats with a sizable European population. Aside from the high salary, other good things with Dubai is that there is no income tax, no sales tax, right in the middle of Europe and Asia (if you love to travel), and depending on the company you work for, lots of benefits that you can't find here. For example, the company that my dad worked for provided him with rent allowance, travel allowance (per person in the family) for airfares between Dubai and your home city (and if there are any left, hotel accommodations for stopovers), education allowance for your kids if you have one (you'll most likely be sending them to private international schools). So, it's not bad.
The thing I don't like about living in Dubai is the humidity (really hot) and it's quite boring. After a while, the beaches and the malls get quite boring although I'm sure a lot have changed in 10 years since I was there. Oh, and the fact that you need a car to get around although this wouldn't be an issue for you.

we cross paths again eh lazarus?
.
If all you want to do is make a SHABLAAM bucket load of money., consider applying for one of the MMMMMMMMMMMMANY Contract positions in Iraq thru DOD. Not much experience is required for SOME entry level positions. Yes through the grapevine, I've heard of NEW GRADS going over in precariously middle-management levels making a CRRRRRRRRRAP load of money than they would ever imagine making anywhere else on planet Earth.
There is the whole., You may die in a heartbeat aspect though....and yet many MMMMMany companies keep pouring human resources into DOD Contracts.
