DVD Cases - Difference?

Can someone please explain to me what the difference is between these two cases sold by blankmedia. Is one just better made than the other?

I don't get the "new machinable and virgin" part. Trying to figure out if they're worth the extra 6 bucks. Thanks

I think the double virgin kind are better made in quality.

My guess is that double virgin (or even single virgin) isn't going to be stinky.

As to quality, both could be equal cheapness: thin plastic, with easily scratched clear wraparound plastic.

I would definitely go with the virgin plastic. Stinkiness isn't cool.

I would think "Virgin" generally indicates made from new plastic as opposed to recycled plastic where there's the possibility of impurities. Does it really make a difference in a case?** I dunno. You'd actually have to see the two to know.

Well, here's the difference:

Standard generic DVD cases have no quality control effectively. They're made from recycled plastic products, which may contain a large number of nasty things (I've heard of traces of mercury being found in some DVD cases out of China!!).

Virgin plastic DVD cases are made with only un-recycled plastic/resin, and they in turn do not include any nastier second hand chemicals/elements. That also means they won't have the burned/charcoal smell that many standard generic cases have. I've know people to get quite sick from this smell and have to take a 30min break to get some air.

So yeah, I would deffinately say paying more for the virgin product is a good idea. Especially if there is anyone who might put the generic cases in their mouths (like kids) in your house.
