I read somewhere (wish I can give you a link) there are some, but very expensive right now.

Dvd -rw dl
Have those been made by chance? If no, will they be made or is it to expensive to produce?

I've read that DVD-R/DL are compatible with next to nothing, so DVD-RW/DL is going to be even worse. Any reason why you want this format?
And I would assume that DVD+RW/DL isn't ready for prime time. Consider how many manufacturers make quality DVD+R/DLs, and think of all the extra issues that RWs have to deal with.

> Kind of hard to do with Vista expanding itself to size bigger than 5GB.
Is that from Vista's backup?
Under XP (with a lot of junk removed, courtesy of nLite), I boot using a BartPE CD, delete stuff like the pagefile, if it's on C, then use DriveImage XML to back up C:. I keep a pretty clean system, so the backup is under 2.5GB, compressed.
What backup software do you use? No option to span to multiple discs?
You can look for someone selling old 2.5" drives, and slap it in an enclosure.

"Selectable Image File Sizes - If desired, you can specify a maximum size for the disk image files that are created. This allows you to create image files that readily fit on the removable media of your choice."
Maybe it's what the FILE setting is for:

I am trying this
Where to buy DVD-R DL (minus) ! disc in the GTA? (not online)
Also what about CD-RW 24X or DVD+RW 8X and DVD-RW 8X discs?
I mean MINUS Dual Layer. I don't know why all my dvd rom/rw cannot boot Leopard from a DVD+R DL (plus) with boot-132. keep getting EBIOS errors_______________

> What's the difference if you image your OS on a separate internal HDD instead of a separate external HDD?
No real difference at all. Paranoiders may claim that it's safer on an external that's not always in use/powered_on. Maybe it is, but I haven't had any HDDs completely die on me -- damaged sectors, yes.
> I mean MINUS Dual Layer.
You mean DASH Dual Layer
.
(I believe -R calls it 'dual layer' and not 'double layer', as per the +R side).
