There is at least one release of VirtualDub that supports VBR MP3.

DVDShrink type SW for XviD files
Don't think it is possible, but is there XviD/AVI software that works like DVD Shrink? By that, I mean to take a XXX MB sized video and cut out some info to reduce it in size to XX MBs.
I've got a bunch of TV episodes that I want to burn as a Data DVD (ISO9660), and the whole season is about 60MB too big (GRRRRR ...). If I cut the end credits (using VirtualDub), the audio goes out of sync, as it is VBR MP3.
Thanks.

Not sure if this will work for you but try to use Cuttermaran to edit, use PVAStrumento to demux. It's the only demuxer I've found that will retain audio sync, when doing frame accurate cuts, not on I frames.

There are many variations of VirtualDub, and I usually go with one of them for conversion. But I've been using PocketDivXEncoder to quickly cut down the size of XVid/DivX AVi files for display on pocket-size video devices, and it's very fast. You can set all the output parameters manually, so it's not limited to the default list of device formats for PDAs, pocket media players, cell phones etc. I think there's a fancier pay version available now, but the older version I use is still free to download.

Thanks. Maybe the best option for me is to just live with it. I'll probably get the DVDs later on, if they drop in price anyways.

Jul 8th, 2006 04:57 AM #6Lathe is utter GARBAGE. I paid for that POS software. Support and communication are non-existent and downloading the updates need to be requested. The free version is better and easier to use than Lathe.

Actually, I tried again using VDubMod (I hate giving up). It works okay when I cut at the end, but when I cut stuff out from the beginning, every now and then, I notice the audio goes very slightly off. I'll just leave it as is. Can't go wrong that way, and it's less work
.
