Dystopian novels.

Any suggestions on a dystopian themed novel? I was in a Kurt Vonnegut craze a couple years ago, and the thought of dystopia brings to mind Vonnegut. I would die for another excuse to read Breakfast of Champions, but this has to be a dystopia themed.

Is Cat's Cradle distopian? I've only read Breakfast of Champions, Slaughterhouse Five and this one other I can't put my finger on. Cat's Cradle deals with a substance that ultimately turns the entire planet to ice, which is dystopian, however this isn't until after the events of the book.

I think it's more of a satire.

Try Blade Runner, 1984, THX-1138, Farhenheit 411, Soylent Green, Logan's Run, A Scanner Darkly, or pretty much anything by Bruce Sterling.

I've read alot of these books mentioned, have yet to read 1984 though. I'd also like to add: Children of Men by PD James.

Yep. Valis, A Scanner Darkly, Radio Free Albemuth, and Flow My Tears, The Policemen Said all fit the dystopic mode. "The Giver" is a newer version of The Chrysalids, if you liked the latter.

Don't forget the ever famous "Do androids dream of electric sheep?". He certainly was a depressing writer.
