This is great...it would also be nice if I could use other programs air miles (ie NWA) to convert to Aeroplan.

Is this a good deal for SPG points?

Say if u have 20k SPG points, then u can convert to 25k aeroplan miles, which gives u a flight in North America. Meanwhile, 20k SPG points may get up to 10 nights of hotel free (depending on the class of the hotel). I guess it really depends...

if I have an option.. I would rather convert aeroplan miles to my SPG points.

Not to mention Aeroplan miles is sooo crapppy & it expires after 7 years. For flights, you would still have to pay taxes which is like huge amount.

You're crazy. The points are much more valuable for flights than for hotels. It's not even close.

Huh? It's virtually impossible to find a decent Starwood Hotel for under 10K points. That's the King Eddie, for example, which is $180/night. 25K points is then equal to $450. Most flights more expensive, especially if you want to fly short notice.

Well, that assumes you would only stay on weekends and at category 1 hotels. Those hotels can usually be be had for less than $100, giving it a value of about 700-800 dollars.

Now, what can 30000 AP points get you? Since you would get 20000(Points transferred) + 5000 (Spg Bonus) + 5000 (Aeroplan Bonus).

Seems like the USair Promo is still better, unless you were already near an award for premium class travel.

It may work if you transfer your AMEX Points to a something like SPG points and then transfer those into aeroplan points, but you never know how long the transx/turn-around may take...

So I log in to my Hilton account tonight and attempt to transfer 5000 pts over to Aeroplan. Get as far as which airline I'm sending them to and then it has a drop-down box for how many points to transfer...but the drop-down box goes blank and won't allow you to enter anything. WTF????
