Easiest Accepting Credit Card

I am sure this has been asked before but the last post I could find was a few years old.

Which Canadian credit card has the easiest acceptance? I am about to turn 18 and I would like to establish a credit rating. The limit does not have to be very high at all, something $250-$1000 would be perfect.

Thanks!

Chris.

My first CC was a TD Student Green Visa. Applied when I just turned of age. Within months, they had increased my limit from $500 to $5000, which made me really surprised.

any student credit card from any bank will do. Most require an ANNUAL income of $500 (you usually don 't have to prove it either...just say you have some income) and you automatically get it. Otherwise apply during some special (at those booths) at university and you usually don't have to prove any income at all.

Talk to your bank ,they'll be able to help you out.

student cc via bank application is subject to approval.
student cc via applying when the bank goes to your school usually is automatic acceptance.

Just get any student credit card from your bank. Go talk to your bank and I'm sure they can give you a credit card. If you hold off till univ/college where there will be booths with credit card applications it's great. They give you freebies too :cheesygri Also just let you know, if you're going to get a student loan it will help you establish a credit rating as well.

I found MBNA being very easy on applications.

Try Royal Bank Visa... if you're in post-secondary they have a half-decent "Student" card. I talked to a bank manager there about loans and she told me that they basically will accept anyone who's 18 and clean (ie, hasn't screwed up their credit). TD, MBNA, PCF all required me to provide proof of income or co-signer. ( I have a PCF MC now and it's my primary card, but yeah :) )

yup, mbna approves just about everybody... you just have to watch out for their insurance, overdraft, and bonuses scams. sometimes when you say no, they put yes and they start charging you monthly fees.

the capital one(canada) secured card is nearly guaranteed to anyone. The security deposit requirement usually is not 1:1, usually much less, such a $200 for $400 for example.

credit card companies are willing to give away $500 limit credit cards like water, student or not. just go to your local bank or go to a credit card display booths in your school. i guarantee you'll find a few, especially early in the semester.

I find MBNA annoying, too much unnecessary mail and spam, and they always give you these "cheques" which I am totally uncomfortable with cuz they have all my personal info on it.
