Easy park chasing me for $90
Got a call from higgins & associated today regarding a parkting ticket for $90 just because my car was there for over 1 minute of my limit at easy park in Vancouver long time ago earlier this yr. I recalled I checked my watch that day and recall it was still 1 minute within my limit and just said heck with some bored security guy taging these cars with a faster watch.
I was just wanted to get some feedback in terms of why these companies are spending so much time and/or money chasing me? and what would be the consequences if i do not pay (how specifically does it effect my credit rating)? I never had any past dealings with private parking lot operators.
Feedback in appreciated.

They have no authority. What they most likely will do is pass it off to collections.
You really think your credit is going to be significantly impacted by a parking ticket?

If your worried about it, call them and argue, get it lowered, and pay it. If you can truly forget about it and it's not going to constantly nag at you, don't pay it.

If it goes to collections and gets on you credit report it will affect your credit score, by how much I don't know. Will this mean no one will lend you money, I would say most likely not, but the lower credit score may mean higher borrowing rates.
Pay the ticket.

If you believe they are wrong call them up. I've heard EasyPark is relatively easy to work with compared to other operators.
EasyPark is actually owned by the City of Vancouver so they aren't exactly private.
There is a phone/email you can use to get in touch with the dispute department:

However seeing as it has gone to collections, I don't know how much exactly they will be able to do for you.

It will go to collections but it will not affect your credit. Been there, done that.
There is no way to pin a driver/credit file to a CAR. Hence, the traffic light camera tickets dont go onto your insurance. You need specific SIN# etc and would have to 'owe' money which would be defaulted. In this case, they dont have sufficient proof to get it on your file.
Credit f ups aren't that easy.
