Are you sure that was a new unit? MTC is where they refurbish PlayStations and I suppose these monitors as well.

Picked one up yesterday at a local EB. So far have enjoyed some 3D gaming as well as Netflix on it. Decent tv for the price. Would not spend more than the $180 on it though.
It'll be $179.99 at FS from Oct. 5-7.
Is this not 120hz? How good is 3D without a 120hz display? Especially being a "gaming display"
Is the 179.99 at FS this weekend confirmed somewhere or just speculation given the discontinued status of the hardware? I'd love to pick one up as a tuner for my room / monitor/output with my laptop, was considering going to BB in the states to grab one but if it'll be closer to home this weekend...
I checked FS they have the Motorstorm + 3d panel for $250 today, so conceivably they could have the panel by itself for $180.
I read some reviews at FS, some guys bought it at Boxing Day and got the red light failure - but were able to return for an exchange.
Once they got the exchange they had no problems to this day.
On the other hand, my PS3 just red-lighted me the other day... so I'm a little shy of PS3 products right now.
(I only paid $100 for it second hand, 60GB backwards-compatible unit, former red-light failure but fixed by Sony - still failed again. But where are the super slim PS3s? I thought they were available imminently!)
That is to say, 120hz for each eye in 3D mode.
If they still have the bundles at Costco and you either don't own a PS3 or are willing to flip it on Ebay for $200, it's a hot deal. Plus you can sell Killzone 3, or keep it since it's a pretty fun 3D game. FYI I've heard rumors that Motorstorm: Apocalypse is going to be making an appearance as a free download on PS+ in the not too distant future.
Actually any display that is not plagued with "intermediate HDMI signal loss" is less problematic than this one (not bashing it, as I do have one and I enjoy it, but if it weren't for the 3D capabilities of the panel I would have never touched it).

These prices can even be brought down PM'ing at ME.
I guess the PS-display has it's issues. Would it be smart to buy an extra warranty?
So would it better to get it @ EB games for $35 1 year; replace it one time. I guess when you replace it, you would get a new receipt and extended warranty from Sony afterwards.
or
Futureshop $49 for 2 years, credit back the amount in giftcards. Do they take back the faulty product? If they don't then you can probably do a claim with Sony.
or
Limited Warranty from Sony. How difficult is this?
I have had no problems with my display and love it as a computer monitor.
Was hoping to pick one up this weekend from FS, as their '3 day sale event' email does show it listed at 179.99 for the bundle, however when you click the link online it still shows up as 249.99...and now on the homepage lists it as 249.99 as well, so maybe they changed their minds :S
but EB still has it for $180... PM if there is some local stock... for winnipeg it shows low stock...toronto 267 yonge supposedly has stock... happy PM
