[eBay.com] Belkin Docking 5xUSB VGA DVI LAN S/PDIF Ports- F5U273 £10.89

Belkin Laptop ExpressCard Docking Station VGA DVI USB AUX Digital Audio F5U273

It uses expresscard port, maybe there is a good usb adapter to expresscard available that can make it more useful for those with no expresscard port. It's still dirt cheap if anyone interested.

How much this thing worth?
If I understand correctly, it's a complete computer for 10$
In my opinion, every intervention in RFD deserve a "thanks". Thanks given until now: more than 100,000

It's not a complete computer. It's a docking station. You need a laptop with expresscard or a usb to expresscard adapter and connect it to this device. This device will give you additional display output, lan, digital/analogue audio and usb ports.

Expresscards are 2.5 or 5Gbps while USB 2.0 is 480Mbps so I don't think a USB to expresscard will do it for this docking station as the video alone will need high bandwidth (unless you can find a USB 3 to Expresscard adapter)... this is only good for old laptops with expresscards slots... nowadays laptops are using USB 3.0 so no more expresscards...

"This item is an eu item supplied with a free eu to uk adapter and manuals in English."

So, I assume you will also need a North American adapter to power this unit.

Technically these things are called port replicators, in that they convert from one port type to another (USB, Express Card, etc.. to Video, Sound,Network, etc..)
A true "Docking Station" uses a docking port, which is usually found on the bottom of most corporate grade laptops (Lenovo Thinkpad, Dell Lattitude, etc..).

A proper, or true docking station is always superior, and more reliable than a port replicator.

I am pretty interested but I am worried that the power supply won't be the standard North American 2 prong.

Then get an adapter like I did off of eBay for $0.99.
