BlackBerry OS  .... big deal breaker.
Stay strong, situation always looks harder and that it will never end when you are in the middle of it, but remember past experiences, everything has an ending.

As a communications device, this is still a great phone with a very nice OS...so long as apps are unimportant to you.

Shouldn't a communications devices support the most popular Instant Messaging apps?

Based on recent news Blackberry has stopped offering paid apps for BB10 OS. I guess browser updates will be phased out at some point as well.
So basically it is better to buy a used Android phone.

Why? This thing still has the old Snapdragon from the Galaxy S3.

Even a $50 prepaid phone with a POS Mediatek runs better than this if it's Android.

The browser has barely been updated in several years.
Already an increasing number of sites are either extremely slow, or don't work at all.

Not bad as a burner phone...make calls, email etc...

Browser still works...for the most part...

Can still use whatsapp on BB10 using the android version - steps below:

1. Install BlackBerry runtime for Android via BlackBerry World
2. Install android Whatsapp found here: https://www.whatsapp.com/android/
3. Install WAAfixer via BlackBerry world to be able to send pics and videos

Believe it or not, there are still some people who only use their phones for sms/email.
Personally I'd recommend they get a used Q10, Q5, or Classic though.
