But they are also lowering insertion fees for items starting at $0.01-0.99. From US$0.25 to US $0.20 and C$0.30 to C$0.25
"For final value fees for Auction-Style and Fixed Price listings on eBay.ca and eBay.com, we are increasing one fee this year - the final value fee for items with a closing price of US$25.01-$1,000.00 or C$35.01-$1,450.00, which will increase from 2.75 to 3.00%"

ebay increasing final value fee
I read that they are increasing their fee from 2.75% to 3% of closing price.
All ebay seems to do is increase fees and take away points programs all the time...

That's such BS. E-bay is one of the most profitable companies in the world, yet they feel the need to get even more greedy.

not only that, they bought paypal so they could milk us for more, and then they got rid of their points system, and in the past while it seems they've gotten rid of their coupons
I think it's justifiable in this view, to use their contact system to contact people to sell outside of ebay

Yeah I try to use ebay as little as possible. I wish there was somebody to rival them.
However there isn't, and sometimes I just have to use ebay. I got my camera off ebay, Panasonic Lumix DMC- FZ20 and I love the thing. I got it for $400 cheaper than it was being sold in stores. I felt it was worth it. It really sucks for those people who are selling things but paying through paypal is horrible._______________

Feb 4th, 2006 10:41 PM #7Ebay smartened up. Sellers being the greedy they are, usually would start the auction at low price ie 99cents and then use the handling/shipping fee excuse to gouge customers.

Pretty simple, and terribly profitable.
Now let's see if the greedy sellers will find another way to make buyers pay for the fee.

Feb 4th, 2006 10:44 PM #8That's obvious of course. But how would this deter sellers who mark up their shipping fees? Seems to me like another reason for listing with higher shipping fees.

thats whyyou sell your items @ $0.01 and include the price of s&h and the price of the item itself into the Shipping cost to evade teh fees.

They're just milking the cash cow and will continue to milk it even tigher now that they have such a large user base, own paypal, and have almost no competition.

It's not the sellers being greedy... it's eBay being greedy. The sellers are just trying to make back some money that they are being charged.
