Ecobee3 Black Friday $249 Smarter Bundle

Ecobee.com is having their Black Friday sale again for the Ecobee3 Smarter Bundle. This bundle includes 2 sensors for free. Free shipping and I only got charged GST for a BC order so its better than the Bestbuy Black Friday sale they have for the same bundle.

You have to sign up at the above page and they will email you the discount code. Took about a day for me to receive the code and it must be used by Nov 27. Code is one time use only.

The nest is tech fluff with no real world benefit. If you have more than 1 room in your house get the ecobee. Far superior.

4 wires is all you need at your thermostat.

Does this actually re compensate the money spent? And how long would that take?

From the product info page:

Powering Method
Wired 24VAC through terminals C and either Rh or Rc.
Power Extender Kit (included) enables you to reliably power your thermostat without having to run a fifth wire.

Power consumption
Less than 3.5 VA

It's a loooong term investment. You will not save money switching to a "smart" thermostat. Investing in one of these will actually increase your cost however the big advantage with these is a much more comfortable house.

it depends how diligent you currently are with turning off the heat when you leave the house. For me the main feature is the multiple sensors that detect occupancy. I have a multi level house with tenants so the sensors can tell whether or not anyone is home. If not, the heat turns off.

Ok thx for the info

What about nest? How many wires? I think my concern is what if my house doesnt have C wire. I will need to check and decide.

Go for the Ecobee. My setup needed a c wire which wouldn't work with the nest. Ecobee includes a power extender kit which I was able to install. They also have a great online community you can earn points and redeem rewards such as extra sensors.
Works great so far.

The link in the email they send is to the US store. If you switch to the Canadian store and try to use it on the smarter bundle it doesn't work. Is mine the only coupon code that is doing this? Have an email into support to find out why.

If you sign up at the https://shop-ca.ecobee.com/pages/black-friday link the discount code they send you should work in the canadian store.

If you signup at the american version (https://shop.ecobee.com/pages/black-friday), the discount code only works in the US store....i made this mistake earlier
