It was 640 AM. I don't recall what their name was at that time though.Originally Posted by Headhunter

Wow, over a 2 year gap between posts...
Broadcast radio has really died in the last couple of decades, it's just filled with absolute garbage at this point.
There was one station I really liked, around the late 80's; it had Top 40 pop hits, but also ran off a steady stream of harder rock, punk, grunge...does anyone know what I'm talking about? I think they had Tarzan Dan, and at night they ran interesting talk shows like Sex, Lies and Audiotape and Pillow Talk. What was the name of this station?
Kiss92 FM got it right when it launched in 1998/99, but turned to a pile crap real quick.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked Headhunter for this post.

Prior to AM640 was 680 CFTR. That was the absolute king of the airwaves in Toronto.

Jul 5th, 2005 11:16 AM #20The reason I went over to Mojo was because of John Oakley, who I used to listen to regularly on CFRB. On Mojo he had free reign but he seems confined to serious radio now, its getting a little dry.

Kiss92 lost way too many DJ's along the way, and kept replacing them with inferior talent. They kept cancelling shows as well, like Slim's Slow Jamz at midnight...I thought the only decent replacement they ever picked up was Sam Cook for the graveyard shift, but she eventually got fired and went to Energy 108.
Is Energy still around anymore?LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked Headhunter for this post.

Jul 5th, 2005 04:01 PM #23LOL! Humble and Fred USED to be on the Edge before they moved to Mojo, before they moved to Mix 99.9. Dean was who replaced Humble and Fred.

Jul 5th, 2005 07:30 PM #25Hehehe, that was a bit of a tongue in cheek comment on my part. Believe me, I know; I listened to H&F on CFNY well over 10 years ago when I was back in high school.

For the record AM 640 The New Beat of Toronto is the station that a few people have been referring to... It was full of a bunch of DJ's who got canned once 680 CFTR turned to all news... Jessie and Gene were on in the morning, Tarzan Dan in the afternoon and Kenny The Hitman in the evening....
By the way, Dean Blundell is freaking awesome.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked ChunkyStyle for this post.

Going back a few years, I really miss Humble & Fred on the Edge... Blundell is an idiot, and so is Todd. I pretty much stopped listening to the radio altogether, as I'm finding it harder to find any decent morning shows worth listening to. Hence, my search on the internet to find a decent station.
